Netflix has released a first look photo of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth season of Netflix’s “The Crown”.
Filming began on the new season this month as the completely new cast steps into various roles including Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major.
Left Bank Pictures produces the lavish royal drama with the fifth season to be set during the 1990s with the Windsor Castle fire, the Fergie scandal, multiple divorces and the death of Diana.
When the cut-off point for the sixth season will be is not clear, though the death of both Elizabeth’s mother and sister just weeks apart in 2002 could potentially serve as either the fifth season closer or sixth season starter.
