A newly announced mixed media project entitled BLUE HUNTER: Manatsu to Toki no Kairyuu (“BLUE HUNTER: The Ocean Currents of Midsummer Time”) seeks to raise awareness and encourage action on cleaning up litter that pollutes the ocean.
The project is the creation of the Manga, Anime and Game Educational Creation Center, an organization that seeks to use pop culture to address social issues. BLUE HUNTER is part of the “Ocean and Japan Project CHANGE FOR THE BLUE” marine litter control initiative.
The project features the voice talents of Rika Nagae, Marina Inoue, Hitomi Ueda, and Karin Takahashi as well as production by WORLD EGGS and Yoshimoto Art Factory. The BLUE HUNTER: Manatsu to Toki no Kairyuu mixed media project includes a Webtoon manga that will begin distribution on various apps in November of 2022, voice content discussing marine life, 3D-printed color figures, art competitions, and live events. An official website and Twitter feed have also been published for the project.
