Paramount has released the first official trailer for Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe. The film is set to have its streaming Paramount+ debut on June 23.

According to a synopsis, the film is a direct sequel to 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, taking place shortly after the events of that movie. In the following year, Beavis and Butt-Head become local heroes–only to become blackmailed for an illegal scam, get arrested, and sentenced to space camp by a “creative” judge in 1998. Somehow, the pair wind up entering a black hole and teleporting to 2022, being hunted by the Deep State, and trying to make sense of modern society. Or, as the trailer proclaims, this will be the “dumbest science-fiction movie ever made,” which is an exciting promise coming from creator Mike Judge–also behind 2006’s Idiocracy, which similarly tried to satirically set a then lowest bar imaginable.

Notably, the trailer above doesn’t feature the first-look images that Judge released back in January this year. It’s entirely plausible they will show up in the film, or they may instead appear in the pair’s return for two seasons on Comedy Central. No release date for the new Beavis and Butt-Head seasons has been given, nor do we know how many new episodes are coming. Judge is set to write, produce, and act for the revival episodes.

Beavis and Butt-Head originally aired on MTV from 1993-1997. These new seasons are not the first time the show has enjoyed a revival: In 2011, the series had an eighth season.
