Labor Day weekend is here, and dozens of companies have launched sales to help you save on tech, mattresses, clothing, and more. We’re constantly updating our list of the best sales, but it can be hard to sort through thousands of deals to find the cream of the crop.
We looked through these sales and collected the 10 best deals we could find to help you out. The discounts below stand out because the items either rarely go on sale, have never been cheaper, or come from a company whose gear we’ve tested for ourselves.
1. Apple AirPods Pro
The AirPods Pro are the latest version of Apple’s totally wireless earbuds. They have ANC (active noise cancellation), which uses microphones to block out loud noises (airplane engines, cars on the street), so you can hear your music without cranking up the volume.
They get five hours of music playback per charge, and automatically recharge when they’re placed in their case. The case’s battery holds enough power to give the AirPods Pro an additional 18 hours of playtime for a total of 25. You can recharge the case by placing it on a wireless charging pad, or plugging a cable into its Lightning port,
The earbuds are compatible with any device with Bluetooth, so you can pair them with your phone, tablet, or computer regardless of who makes it. I’ve been using the AirPods Pro for the past few months, and have been very pleased by the quality of their noise cancelling given their size. The AirPods Pro are currently down to their lowest price ever on Amazon.
2. Facebook Portal
The Facebook Portal makes keeping up with friends and family members more effortless than ever before. The smart display lets you see photos, listen to music, and place video calls through Facebook Messenger, Zoom, Webex, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans, Workplace, or WhatsApp.
The Portal looks like a picture frame when it’s not in use, which is a lot nicer than most gadgets. It won’t stand out (in a bad way) or throw off the vibe in your room. However, the Portal has a camera on its upper-righthand side, which enables you to make and receive live video calls.
Video chatting on the Portal is more convenient than using a phone because you never have to hold it or move it around. The Portal’s camera is smart enough to keep you in the frame as you move around. Another benefit of using the Portal for video calls is its loud, clear speaker system. You’ll never have to strain your ears to hear the person you’re speaking with.
When you’re not using the Portal for video chats, you can set it up to work with Amazon’s Alexa. This feature allows you to use the Portal as a full-fledged smart speaker that can answer your questions, set timers or reminders, play games, and control certain smart-home devices. Finally, Facebook’s Portal has some important privacy features, including the ability to disable the microphone and camera when it’s not in use.
Facebook is currently offering an $80 discount on the Portal as part of its Labor Day Weekend sale, which lasts through September 12. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or want a thoughtful gift for distant relatives or college students, this is a great deal.
3. Ring Stick Up Cam
Ring’s Stick Up Cam is a 1080P security camera that works perfectly whether you live in a home or an apartment. The internet-connected camera can be set up anywhere you have an outlet.
Once you’ve connected the Stick Up Cam Cam to your Wi-Fi network, your phone will get a notification each time somebody walks by and trips its motion sensor. You can communicate with the person on the other side using the camera’s mic and speaker.
Ring’s Stick Up Cam is $20 off, and it’s the ideal gadget to get if you’re just starting your home’s smart security system.
4. Echo Dot (4th Gen) + Amazon Smart Plug
Amazon doesn’t have a lot active Labor Day Weekend deals, but this $15 discount on an Echo Dot + Smart Plug bundle stood out to us.
The Dot is small-but-powerful smart speaker that allows you to play your music, set timers, and control smart-home accessories using Alexa, Amazon’s smart assistant. Amazon’s Smart Plug allows you to control any device that’s plugged into it using the Alexa app on your phone, or an Echo smart speaker.
The beauty of this bundle is that it has everything you need to begin building your smart home. Connect a coffee maker to the Amazon Smart Plug, and you can turn it on the instant you wake up using the Echo Dot, for instance. If you’ve been confused about how to start your smart home, this is an excellent deal.
5. Eufy RoboVac 11C MAX
Eufy’s RoboVac 15C MAX is a smart robot vacuum that can clean your floors without you needing to push a button. The vacuum can be connected to your Wi-Fi network through the eufy Home app (iOS and Android), which allows you to set it to run at a set time on selected days. You can also connect the RoboVac 15C MAX to your Amazon Alexa account, and start a hands-free cleaning by speaking to your Echo smart speaker.
The vacuum has sensors to help it detect obstacles (including stairs), and several different cleaning modes, which you can switch between in the app, or with the included remote. These modes let you specify where the vacuum should clean (in one room, at a particular spot, along the sides of your walls), so it reaches the spots you need it most.
Eufy says the RoboVac 15C MAX can run for up to 100 minutes per charge, and that it’ll automatically go back to its charging base once it’s running low on power. I’ve used a few of eufy’s RoboVac vacuums, and they’ve always done a really good job picking up dirt and dust I didn’t even know was there.
Originally $279.99, the RoboVac 15C MAX was marked down to $259.99, but you can get an extra $40 off by using an Amazon coupon on its product page. You can save $60 by stacking these two discounts, and have a smarter, cleaner house afterward.
6. Belkin Soundform Elite
Belkin is currently holding a large Labor Day Weekend deal, offering up to 50% off its latest and greatest gadgets.
The deal that stood out to us is the $150 discount on its Soundform Elite smaert speaker, which was selected as one of our favorite Father’s Day presents. Wireless speakers are pretty common these days, but the Soundform Elite has features its competition can’t match.
The speaker has a cutout on top designed to perfectly cradle your smartphone. This notch is more than a stand, though, it’s also a wireless charger that works with Android smartphones and the iPhone. This is a feature we’ve never seen in another speaker.
The Soundform Elite also stands out because it can work with a smart assistant. You can choose between a model that works with the Google Assistant, or one that works with Amazon’s Alexa and is compatible with Apple’s AirPlay 2 streaming technology. There’s no wrong choice.
None of these features would matter if the Soundform Elite sounded bad, but it worked very well in our tests, delivering loud, clear music each time we hit play. If you need a smart speaker for your home office, Belkin’s Soundform Elite is the best deal we’ve seen.
7. Razer Blade 15 Base Gaming Laptop
Need a laptop powerful enough to play the latest games and handle photo or video editing? Take advantage of this one-day deal on the Razer Blade 15, which is currently $452 cheaper than normal.
The 15-inch laptop comes loaded with 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, a six-core Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1660Ti graphics card with 4GB of dedicated memory, and a 120Hz 1080P display. These specs are incredible for a laptop that weighs just 4.5 pounds.
All of this horsepower is necessary to play demanding games, but it also comes in handy if your job involves creating high resolution audio, video, 3D graphics, or photos. Naturally, the Razer Blade 15 can also handle everyday tasks like writing documents, creating presentations, working with spreadsheets, or surfing the web.
This deal knocks the Razer Blade 15 down to its lowest price ever, and it won’t be around for long.
8. Roku Express 4K+
The quickest way to make an older TV smart, or get the most out of a newer set, is installing a media streamer. These dedicated devices have better streaming apps than the ones that come preinstalled on your TV. One of the best media streamers we’ve tried recently is Roku’s Express 4K+, a pocket-sized device that’s extremely powerful.
We were able to stream HD and 4K video from a variety of sources without running into any stuttering or buffering. The Express 4K+ even felt fast when switching between apps, an action that can bog a media streamer down if it doesn’t have a lot of memory. We’re also fans of the Roku Express 4K+ because it comes bundled with Roku’s easy to use remote, which has ultra-responsive buttons, and shortcuts to Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and Apple TV.
Right now you can save $11 on the Roku Express 4K+, which knocks its price down to just $29. At this price, we recommend getting one for every TV in your house.
9. Nebula Cosmos Full HD Projector
Nebula’s Cosmos is one of the best HD projectors we’ve gotten to test, and it’s currently $200 off at Amazon.
The Cosmos produces a bright, clear picture, and has a maximum screen size of 300 inches. It runs Android, so you can access all of your favorite streaming services without using a media streamer, but has two HDMI ports when you want to plug in a game console, 4K Blu Ray player, or other gadgets. You also have the option of playing videos off a flash drive thanks to the Cosmos’ USB-A port.
What really impressed us about this projector was its sound system. You can hook up an external set of speakers to the Cosmos if you want, but in our tests that was completely unnecessary. This projector provided a surprising amount of oomph when watching action scenes, and we didn’t have to crank the volume up to hear dialogue or subtle sounds.
If you’re setting up a home theater system, and don’t have a lot of space, don’t skip this deal.
10. Google Max Speaker
The Home Max is Google’s biggest, most powerful smart speaker, and it’s $100 off at Walmart right now.
The Google Max’s standout audio feature is that it can play music in true stereo when positioned horizontally instead of folding down your music into mono. You won’t get the same level of separation that you would from two speakers spaced a few feet apart from one another, but your music won’t sound as compressed, either.
The Home Max’s best smart feature is its integration with the Google Assistant, the search giant’s response to Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri. This speaker has a microphone in it, which allows you to ask the Google Assistant for answers to your questions, play music from various streaming services, or control smart-home accessories.
The Google Home Max is a big, powerful speaker and a smart-home hub without compromising on either one. It rarely goes on sale, so you should take advantage of this deal while you have the chance.
