And Just Like That… fans are about to get exclusive secrets from the making of the show. It’s getting an HBO Max documentary.
And Just Like That… The Documentary is set to premiere on February 3, the same day that the AJLT season-one finale will hit our screens. The finale’s got a lot to wrap up, including Carrie’s search for signs from Big’s spirit, Charlotte’s family troubles, and Miranda caught between Che and…an internship.
The documentary will have interviews with cast and crew, including, of course, the main three: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. It will take viewers behind the scenes of filming, and share insight into the creative process of the series.
Clips from the trailer show the making of the script and Cynthia Nixon as a first-time TV director for episode six, “Diwali.” Costume managers are also pictured in well-stocked closets, so the documentary might go into the motivation behind the Manolos. It’s not Sex and the City without the fashion. Hopefully, we get to know more about the return of Carrie’s iconic Atelier Versace mille feuille gown in the eighth episode.
“Even 23 years in, I’m excited,” says Sarah Jessica Parker, who also executive-produced the documentary, in the trailer. “I’m terrified and excited.”
The cast reuniting over two decades after their debut in the original Sex and the City series is certainly documentary-worthy. The doc is also adding the perspective of new cast members like Sara Ramírez and Sarita Chodhury, who play Che Diaz and Seema Patel, respectively.
“Getting to know our new cast members has just been a gift, and we all have something new brought to us by them,” Kristin Davis says in the documentary trailer.
