Episode 7 Recap
The new president pledges to reinstate meritocracy by ensuring that the most talented students receive recognition. Horikita’s brother finally steps down from the presidency. He is replaced by a qualified student from Class B. Afterward, Class D’s teacher congratulates the students for doing well.
Also, she talks about how none of the students have dropped out. In addition, she warns them about the upcoming year-end test called Paper Shuffle, where some students usually fail.
It is common for students to be paired together for that exam. It is not uncommon for students in class D to form teams on the spot after being given the idea of working together in pairs.
A quiz is always conducted before the particular exam, so the students do not decide on the pairs. Students must take this very seriously as a deciding factor in their success. The students themselves set up special exams, and they develop their question papers.
Horikita takes the opportunity before the meeting to speak with Ayanokouji about something important. After telling him everything she knows about Kushida, she takes him to an isolated room.
It took Horikita a while to recall where she had seen Kushida in junior high school because there were many students in her class. During the final weeks before graduation, one of the classes at the school was destroyed by accident, which harmed the students’ lives. It was rumored that Kushida caused it.
Although Horikita is certain that Kushida was behind the disaster, it profoundly impacted the lives of junior high school students. Due to Horikita’s knowledge of these rumors, Kushida wants her expelled immediately. She listens carefully to Ayanokouji’s advice and recommends that she go after Kushida first.
Getting her arch-enemy expelled from school is the only way she can save herself. Students will be paired with their classmates before the year-end paper shuffle exam. There will be a quiz the following week to assess that.
Now that Class D knows that no student has ever been eliminated after this exam, they are taking it very seriously. To prepare for the Paper Shuffle, Horikita met with some students. When she finally meets her classmates, she tells them she will only talk about the quiz at this point because Kushida is there as well.
According to Horikita, it’s strange that so few students are in any real danger based on the Paper Shuffle’s previous records. She argues, however, that the quiz must be taken very seriously if one is to do well in a particular exam.
According to Horikita, pairing the best brains with below-average students is the ideal scenario. This can be accomplished by dividing the class into four groups, which she tells her classmates. In contrast, the best students will work hard to get high marks instead of leaving an empty sheet.
Students in third and fourth place will get scores over 0 and below those of the best students, respectively. Thus, Class D will have a better chance of surviving the Paper Shuffle due to the overall composition of the teams.
According to Horikita, they should target Class C instead of A and B since those two classes have outstanding students. In the initial meeting, everyone seems to agree, and when they are later presented to the whole class, they choose to follow through.
