Season 5 of Kingdom Anime to Debut in Early 2024

It’s very rare to find a historical anime that portrays the true aspect of that time, and that’s why Kingdom gets so much hype. The anime depicts ancient China’s Warring States period in a way that no one does and probably no one can.

Besides the fictionalized portrayal of such an important historical era, the anime is a fun watch for anyone interested in warfare. The various strategies used to climb the power ladder, varying philosophies, and some epic fight sequences make it an intriguing story for any and every action lover.

Kingdom wrapped up with its fourth season yesterday and is already back on the grind for its fifth season, which will be out in January 2024.

The staff has released a teaser video and visual accompanying the announcement. The teaser is a video format of the key visual featuring General Kan Ki.

Season 5 will continue and adapt a major chunk of the Koku You Campaign arc. Its central plot revolves around the battle between Qin and Zhao over the Koku You Hills, a strategic area for both.

General Kan Ki, a member of the Six Great Generals of Qin and leader of the Kan Ki army, is a crucial figure in this arc. He’s appointed to handle the affair at the Koku You Hills with Shin and the Hi Shin unit as reinforcements.

While Shin disagrees with Kan Ki’s brutal and radical approach to handling things, he can’t do anything but follow orders. Kan Ki is known for his vicious yet effective strategies that end up hurting innocents, something that Shin cannot tolerate.

Regardless of what Shin thinks, there’s no way he can stand against Kan Ki or his way of doing things, at least not now. Shin is not powerful enough, and Kan Ki is nothing less than an experienced and cunning fox, so a battle between them will result in the hero’s defeat.

Their differing philosophies and the strategical battle of the Koku You Hills is something you should excitedly look forward to in the upcoming season.

Kingdom is a Japanese seinen manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara.

The manga provides a fictionalised account of the Warring States period primarily through the experiences of the war orphan Xin and his comrades.

In the story, Xin fights to become the most significant general under the heavens, and in doing so, unifying China for the first time in history.
