Sarah Ferguson came to her son-in-law Jack Brooksbank’s defense after photos emerged of him drinking on a boat in Capri with a handful of ladies who were not his wife Princess Eugenie, insisting that it was all purely business.
On Saturday, the Daily Mail published photos showing Brooksbank aboard a traditional gozzo boat off the Amalfi Coast sipping on rosé and swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea. He was joined on the boat trip by three female friends, who the outlet identified as Casamigos global director Rachel Zalis, and models Erica Pelosini and Maria Buccellati. The new dad was in Italy as part of his job as a brand ambassador for Casamigos—the celebrity tequila company founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber—ahead of the star-studded Unicef Summer Gala which the alcohol brand sponsors. Princess Eugenie didn’t join her husband on the trip as she’s currently back in Windsor caring for their five-month-old baby, August, according to the Daily Mail.
But during an appearance on BBC One’s The One Show on Monday, the brand ambassador’s mother-in-law came to his defense, explaining that Brooksbank was “just doing his job.”
Ferguson said, “Jack, who was on the front page, is a man of such integrity. He’s just one of my most favorite people. I call him James Bond actually.” She continued, “He’s just a superhero in my book, and he’s a great father, a fabulous husband, and he’s never at front of house, he always likes to be at the back.” She added that there’s absolutely no validity to the narrative that the tabloids and the public seem to be projecting onto these images, saying, “So for them to make this story is completely fabricated, he works as an ambassador for Casamigos, and he was on doing his job, and so I think it’s really important that we clarify that for Jack’s sake.”
