After opening at number one at the Japanese box office in its first weekend, Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night has pushed past 1 billion yen (US$8.76 million) at the Japanese box office, the official Twitter account for the film announced yesterday.

Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night opened on October 30 in Japan, marking just three weeks since the film opened in theaters in Japan for the milestone of passing 1 billion yen (US$8.76 million). While full figures have yet to be released for this week, it’s safe to say that its doing decently, though isn’t likely pass the Japanese box office gross of the previous film in the series, Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale-, which went on to make over 4.3 billion yen (US$38.3 million) worldwide, with 2.52 billion yen (US$22,466,673) of that in Japan, with the rest being made in China, North America, South Korea, and 22 other nations.
Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night opened in Japan on October 30, with a second film revealed after the end credits. Aria of a Starless Night will be released in North America on December 3, with Australia and New Zealand following on December 9, and other countries later.
