The 2021 French Open men’s semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will surely go down in tennis history as one of the best and most intense ever.
It was an epic marathon match that lasted four hours and 11 minutes with Djokovic stunning the “King of Clay” with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 win. Djokovic won the last six games of the match, breaking Nadal several times, including in the final game for the win. He’ll face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final Sunday.
It was a quintessential matchup between two of the “Big Three” men’s tennis players, as they ferociously fought for every point. The third set alone lasted about 90 minutes with Djokovic winning the tiebreak.
“One of the greatest sets of tennis I have ever witnessed.”
Djokovic wins an incredible tiebreaker over Nadal at the French Open 👏

Despite 13 French Open victories, Nadal’s loss Friday was only his third defeat in the Grand Slam tournament, and it was the first time in his career he lost after reaching the French Open semifinals. Nadal’s career record at Roland-Garros is now 105-3, while Djokovic became the first player to beat the clay-court rockstar twice.
He’s completed the toughest feat in our sport not once, but twice. 💪@DjokerNole defeats Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 to set up a final meeting with Tsitsipas.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC HAS DONE IT 👏👏👏
He has dethroned Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros and secured himself a place in the French Open final.
That was truly one for the history books. 🤩

I don’t care what anybody says, there is no tougher task in tennis than beating Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros. This is *our* Everest.
Novak Djokovic has done it twice. Twice. TWICE.
And we got to watch it. We got to watch it all! pic.twitter.com/8eeDjJPALV

Can’t believe the winner of that match doesn’t get the trophy… Tricky now for Djokovic: needs to recover, forget he just beat Nadal and try to go through Tsitsipas. Won in 5 sets last year in semis vs the Greek.

Thoroughly deserved win for Djokovic. If anyone deserved another shot at this title it was the second best clay courter this generation, who’s been roadblocked non stop by Nadal. And Rafa fans can take solace in knowing Nadal’s clay legacy is infinitely bigger than this one match

The world had to wait for almost 2 years to witness a classic match like this!
The last time it happened, it was the Wimbledon final in 2019.
And guess who won the match on both the occasions. ❤️🔥

This is one of the best tennis game I’ve seen live. What a game.
Novak Djokovic is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. His mentality is what makes him great.

The #DjokovicNadal match should have been the #FrenchOpen finals. The rivalry of these two greats is the best that has happened to men’s tennis. Their ability, skill, determination and mental strength are extraordinary. 😍♥️👍

A lung busting, curfew busting, semi-final. Remember the set point Djokovic saved with a drop shot in the third set? Just incredible – perhaps the match of his life, and only the third defeat in 108 matches for Nadal at Roland Garros.
