Gwendoline Christie knows how to deliver a high-impact look on the red carpet. More than that, though, she knows how to deliver a look that feels perfectly on-brand for the latest film or TV epic she’s currently promoting. (Who can forget that epic, billowing Iris van Herpen gown of ice and fire she wore for the final premiere of Game of Thrones?)
Tonight, the actor stepped out in London for the premiere of her latest blockbuster, Netflix’s big-budget TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved comic series The Sandman, in which she plays Lucifer (the ruler of hell, naturally) opposite Tom Sturridge. And she was clearly ready to dial up the drama, this time opting for a dramatic Rick Owens gown from his futuristic—and a little apocalyptic—fall 2022 collection.
The top came with a dramatic panel sleeve that ran from shoulder to knee, lavished in silver sequins worthy of any glamorous space warrior. (Christie has played one of those too, lest we forget her turn as Captain Phasma in the Star Wars franchise.) With Owens’s typically offbeat eye for combining textures, the floor-length skirt was cut from an ombré denim that faded from silver to a classic jean blue.
