RPGamer has been covering RPGs since 1998, with the current version of the site launched in 2018. Due to the wholesale change in our back-end and systems only certain content created from 2018 onwards has been carried over to our new site. However, all of our older content can still be found at archive.rpgamer.com.

To answer your question on the podcast on my gen 9 starter choice, I do love cats, and I will likely pick Sprigatito if I don’t like Fuecoco’s final stage (and it gets revealed in time). I would have to like it less than Emboar for that to happen, though. I’m just such a stickler for picking the Fire Starter. I’ve always chosen them, except for games that don’t start off the generation like White 2 and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. I’d like to keep the streak going!
Anyway, as for the question of the week, it tends to really bother me if I leave a game unbeaten, so I play games I’m very sure I’ll like and finish them. I’ve left Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers unbeaten for years, and even though I’m not likely to miss anything leaving it unfinished, it still bothers me a little.
I was a little bit behind on the question of the weeks! I think I’ll go with Duxley, following my quite long tradition of choosing the water starter. But the weed kitty is a close second. It’s really cute.
As for this week’s question, I’d say I get annoyed if I don’t roll credits. So I’ll slowly plug away at games till I get there. I have put some down eventually but I’d doesn’t happen too often that I’ll quit altogether with no intention of going back to it
QOTW: It used to bother me to not roll credits. Somehow I got over it, and nowadays I have no problem moving on if I’m not enjoying a game. Or to leave a book unfinished. Or to stop watching a TV series halfway through. Life is short, and my leisure time I have is too precious to waste it on things I don’t enjoy.
I have rarely felt the need to roll credits on most of the games I buy. This is mostly because a lot of them tend to have a story that is not compelling enough to keep me engaged. Some of the first games I was able to roll credits on were Phantasy star 3, 4 and Xenogears. I really enjoyed those games.
