Dwayne Johnson has teased that there could be a clash on the horizon between Black Adam and Superman.
Speaking to Total Film, Johnson explained how he wanted to make sure that his version of Black Adam is a hit with DC fans – and added that he can see Black Adam taking on Superman in the future.
“We can do anything if we keep the audience first,” Dwayne said. “So to me, there’s a battle that’s going to go down one day, between Black Adam and Superman. I don’t know who that Superman is going to be, and I don’t know who’s going to play him. That’s OK. I don’t need to know right now.
“But I’m confident in knowing that. And that’s based out of what fans want. We worked backwards from there.”
The star also explained that he wants to make sure that his take on the character stays true to the DC comics original, saying that the filmmaking team have learned from some of the “pitfalls” of other DC movies.
“You get one shot out of the gates to build these characters properly,” he continued. “We paid attention to some of the pitfalls that other films had experienced in the past, in the world of DC, and what, rightfully, got a lot of fans unhappy and pissed – and, as a fan, I was one of them.
“So, let’s make sure we respect tradition and mythology, but let’s not be handcuffed creatively.”

Filming on Black Adam wrapped up back in July, and Johnson marked the occasion with a tweet. “[That’s] a wrap on BLACK ADAM. Incredible journey. Hardest undertaking of my entire career physically and mentally. Worth every second,” he wrote at the time.
“Boundless gratitude to my 1,000+ crew members, actors and director, Jaume Collet-Serra. The hierarchy of power in DC Universe is changing.”
Alongside Johnson, the film also stars Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before‘s Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Straight Outta Compton‘s Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.
