The mother-of-two and grandmother-of-three said: “He has made my day.
“I’m such a big fan of his, I’ve watched all his movies and boxsets especially during lockdown. I love him to bits.
“I haven’t been very well for a while now, but he put me on a pedestal for a day and that’s all I can ask for.”
The Hospice originally shared a picture of Shaw with a cardboard cutout of the Venom star Hardy, which a friend had sent her in lieu of flowers.
The post read: “This is Jo-Anne Shaw she is 58 years old. A Mother of two and Grandmother of three who is dying of cancer at our Warwick Myton Hospice.
“As you’ll see Jo-Anne is a Tom Hardy super fan and has decorated our Inpatient Unit with a life-size cut out of Tom … much to everyone’s delight!
“After a chat with Jo-Anne, it was revealed that she would love to fulfil her final wish and meet Tom!
“Through the power of social media and our wonderful supporters, we would love to try to make this happen for Jo-Anne, we appreciate Tom may be busy or out of the country but even a video would be incredible.”
It was shared over 3,000 times on social media and eventually reached the 45-year-old actor who responded: “Be my pleasure.”
Myton Hospice said: “We are thrilled to say that Jo-Anne not only spoke to Tom this morning on the phone but has just had a Facetime with Tom too!
“We’ve been blown away by Tom’s kindness and support too.”
