Ontario reported 1,476 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday as the rolling seven-day average of cases continues to climb.

The rolling average now stands at 1,236, or 8.48 cases per 100,000 people. There have been a total of 632,147 cases in Ontario since the pandemic began.
Per cent positivity in testing is on the rise as well, with 5.4 per cent of the results coming in positive for COVID-19 — a jump from the 4.6 per cent reported by the province Saturday.
The province additionally reported eight new deaths Sunday, bringing the toll to 10,078.
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said in a Sunday morning Twitter post there are 222 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 158 people in the ICU while noting that not all hospitals report on weekends.
In all, 11,323,370 people have been fully vaccinated, with 24,449,726 total doses administered throughout the province. About 86.7 percent of people over age 12 have been fully vaccinated.

In health regions around the Ottawa area, Kingston, which has been hit hard by the virus, saw 121 new cases, while the Eastern Ontario health unit, which includes Hawkesbury and Cornwall, had 13. Leeds, Grenville, Lanark reported 28 new cases, and Renfrew City and District had six.
Latest COVID-19 news in Ottawa
Ottawa Public Health reported 98 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday and no new deaths. The total death count remains at 618.
There are 663 active cases in the city and six people in hospital — none in the ICU.
There have been 32,835 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city since the outset of the pandemic.
Ottawa’s seven-day rolling average of cases per 100,000 people is 48.6.
Of all COVID-19 tests conducted from Dec. 3 to Dec. 9, 3.1 per cent came back positive.

OPH reported one new outbreak at Jockvale Elementary School on Sunday, where three students have tested positive.
There are 27 ongoing outbreaks in schools and child-care centres, one ongoing outbreak in a long-term care home and four active community outbreaks.
In memo Sunday updating the outbreak status at City of Ottawa LTC homes, Donna Gray, general manager, community and social services, said one staff member at Carleton Lodge had tested positive. A staff member at Garry J. Armstrong had previously tested positive.
On Saturday, Ottawa Public Health said it has found evidence of community transmission of the Omicron variant and reminded people to take precautions such as getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance from others, limiting close contacts, hand washing and staying home while sick.

Latest COVID-19 news in Quebec
Quebec reported 1,753 new COVID-19 cases Sunday as hospitalizations continue to rise.
There are now 262 people in hospital, an increase of 11 and the highest level since October. Of those people, 68 are in intensive care — an increase of five.
The province’s seven-day rolling average of cases is above 1,600 for the first time since mid-April.
While people who are not two weeks out from their first vaccine dose make up just 21.7 per cent of the province’s population, they accounted for half of the day’s new cases.
One new death was reported in Quebec Sunday, bringing the total to 11,608
