Paramount Pictures has officially announced they are developing a sequel to the just-released family adventure comedy film “Clifford the Big Red Dog” based on the classic children’s books.
Released the other week, the film has generated $34 million at the domestic box office while playing concurrently on the Paramount+ service. Walt Becker directed the film from a script by Jay Scherick, David Ronn and Blaise Hemingway.
The feature has reportedly become the service’s most-watched original film to date, though neither Paramount+ nor its predecessor CBS All Access have been known for doing major day-and-date film releases beyond some kids films.
It has not been revealed whether the new instalment will play only in theaters or simultaneously on digital platforms. Critics were very mixed on the film, but audiences approved with an ‘A’ CinemaScore.
