For the first time, I truly understood how perilous and terrifying the dungeon is in Danmachi IV episode 4 when I heard Bell’s spine-tingling scream as soon as he emerged from the waterfall.
Bell’s responses were more naïve than anything, despite having watched the previous seasons. It was more dramatic than I anticipated for the series to have someone who has previously experienced so much yet scream with such dread.
The dungeon is a terrible place, but we don’t often see it in the crucial areas where it matters, so I really hope they’d do it more in this show.
Episode 4 Speculations
At the end of episode 3, the mermaid girl claps for Bell when he successfully evades the attacks of Iguaza. We can expect a more detailed interaction between the two in the next episode, which is also titled “Mermaid.”
As suggested by the strategist, the rest of the party going for the “intermediate retreat” will be facing Huge Moss. We are curious to see how that plan unfolds.

Episode 3 Recap
The beginning of the episode features a brief recap from the previous episode – “The Great Falls.” The party’s healer, Lady Cassandra, uses Soul Light to try and heal the injured – Luvis and Chigusa.
The soul light does not work on the two, as the seed that penetrated them due to the attack of Huge Moss took root all over their bodies and is sapping on them for nourishment. It is concluded that healing magic and potions do not affect it.
Everyone loses hope, but Bell hypes everyone by saying they can still do something to help the wounded. Lady Cassandra suggests they can either go back to the surface and contact more experienced healers or go after the monster and finish it off, hoping that would kill the parasite inside the bodies of the ones affected.
The party then measures its options against its current situation. Luvis reveals that the monster is after the adventurers because it is hunting for the magic stones. He says that his party encountered Huge Moss, where it attacked them and ate all the stones in front of them.
Luvis was supposed to be the decoy. That is why his party got left behind.
They all then decide that staying in the dungeon and killing Huge Moss is their best shot. On Bell’s orders, they all start moving in the direction where Luvis’ party got attacked. They find a trail of blood and end up following it.
They find Luvis’ party in an awful state. It turns out that this was a trap laid by Huge Moss. The party splits into a group of three – one that fights Huge Moss, two that fights the river monsters and rescues the elves, and three, that stays back, so it doesn’t get in the way.
Bell goes all out on the monster and breaks its weapon. Meanwhile, the other group fights off the petty monsters and saves the elves. Bell uses his Fire Bolt on the monster, but it catches him and takes him deep into the water. The flames extinguish, and the monster leaves Bell to the strong current, leading him down a huge waterfall.
The rest of the party finishes its job, and Luvis and his party reconcile. Arde tries to go after Bell but is stopped. Mikoto reveals that she can’t sense Bell anywhere near. Aisha reassures everyone that Bell is strong enough to survive on his own. She also says that, at this point, Bell is stronger than her.
Arde then tells everyone her plan, how they will make an intermediate retreat and use Mikoto’s gravity spell to crush the passageway and send the monster plummeting to the bottom.
On the other hand, Bell, who is just recovering from his fall, gets attacked, and his left arm is injured. He then recalls that it is Iguazu, the fastest monster on the lower floors. Hundreds of them attack him, and he hides behind a large crystal, where he starts to panic.
But then he comes back to his senses and faces them head-on. After all of them are finished, he is greeted by a mermaid clapping for him.
