The province’s health minister, Christine Elliott, said in a Twitter post 288 of the new cases are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. The remaining 155 are in fully vaccinated individuals.
Elliott said there are 155 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 164 people in the ICU with the virus, while noting not all hospitals report their numbers on the weekend.
The number of patients in the ICU may appear higher than the number of people hospitalized as the reporting process used by the province means patients in the ICU due to COVID-related symptoms are only reported hospitalized if they are still testing positive for the virus.
The province said Sunday one death has been removed from the previous cumulative total of 9,814 based on “date cleaning.”

Provincial numbers show just over 83 per cent of the province’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated.
