Did you know that H.E.R could act? No? Me neither. But as it turns out, she absolutely can. On Thursday night, the R&B artist proved her acting chops in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast live show. The TV special celebrated 30 years of the classic tale, starring H.E.R as Belle and Josh Groban as the Beast. ABC aired the special live last night—and you can stream it now on Disney+.
If you’re not game to watch the full show, don’t worry! We understand. You know the story by now. Belle, a bookish teen, is minding her business when her dad is suddenly kidnapped by the Beast. She tries to rescue him—then learns that the Beast is actually a prince who was cursed by a witch. Also, his appliances can talk. (And sing!) So Belle decides to teach the Beast about love in order to break the spell. The two lovebirds, of course, fall for each other and the rest is history. Stockholm Syndrome meets a rom-com. Thank you, Disney.
Instead of reliving Thursday night’s madness again, let me go song by song and tell you why I simply cannot erase the Beauty and the Beast live show from my brain.

Martin Short and Shania Twain Perform ‘Be Our Guest’ – Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration
Is that Martin Short? Oh my god, it is! How did he find time for this outside of his Saturday Night Live! hosting duties and (hopefully) Only Murders in the Building Season Three production?
Those little red gloves are fabulous. The costume designer for Thing (on Wednesday) should take notes.
Who told Martin Short to do a French accent?
Shania Twain as the Teapot is the gift I didn’t know I needed.

H.E.R. and Josh Groban Perform ‘Something There’ – Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration
H.E.R is the people’s princess. Her vocals? Simply delightful.
Josh Groban sounds OK.
What are all those jumping birds? Why do they move like that?
Oh, good! Shania and Martin are back.
Can someone tell that little boy/teapot what falling in love is? He looks so lost—and it’s not that serious.

H.E.R. and Josh Groban Perform ‘Beauty and the Beast’ – Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration
I hate to say it but, H.E.R and Josh Groban look pretty good together.
Do you think the spinning people are dizzy? Or are they just really good at waltzing around in circles?
Oh, good! H.E.R got her sunglasses back.
Wait, a guitar solo! Since when can Belle shred?!
I’d like to retract my statement from earlier. This version of Beauty and the Beast (literally) rocks. Don’t judge me if I watch it again.
