One of the earliest Premier League games to fall foul of COVID-19 is set to be played on Wednesday with Tottenham travelling to the East Midlands to face Leicester. The match was initially due to take place on December 16 only to be scuttled by a late increase in positive tests with the Foxes.
Since then both clubs have found themselves squarely behind the eight ball in terms of fixtures and this week’s game will see both reach the halfway mark of their campaign. Spurs remain firmly in the race for a top four finish while Leicester will hope to move towards the European places with a win at the King Power. Storylines
Leicester: Having gone 11 days without a game, the injury crisis that has dogged Leicester for much of this season is starting to abate somewhat even if the likes of Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana are still destined to be on the sidelines for some time yet. However, prior to the postponed game against Burnley, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that several first teamers were back, including Caglar Soyuncu and Patson Daka.
Most notably, James Justin could also make his first senior appearance in 11 months after a serious knee injury. The versatile fullback was being talked about as a potential England international this time a year ago and his return has been eagerly awaited by Rodgers. “He’s worked so hard,” he said. “He’s a joy to work with. He’s a great guy, he sets a standard in training.
“I’m delighted for him because it’s been a long road for him. Hopefully in this second part of the season he can get back to his level. It will be great to have him back.”

Tottenham: There was a strong sense of frustration around Spurs after their top four six pointer against Arsenal was postponed at their opponent’s request. It was a match that could have seen Antonio Conte’s side establish themselves as favorites for a Champions League berth, but this midweek fixture will at least allow them to gain ground on the Gunners and West Ham. Equally, with another meeting with Chelsea on the horizon come Sunday, the situation could look far less rosy come the end of the month.
Prediction
Leicester showed signs of improvement before their lengthy break and may well frustrate Spurs’ pursuit of three points. PICK: Leicester 2 Spurs 2
