“The Boys,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks” and “Scream” star Jack Quaid has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next film “Oppenheimer” alongside Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and Cillian Murphy.
The biopic explores J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb. The movie opens on July 21st 2023. [Source: Deadline]
Glorious
Ryan Kwanten and J.K. Simmons have been revealed as starring in the supernatural horror movie “Glorious” which has nearly completed filming. Rebekah McKendry directs from a script by Todd Rigney, Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry.
Kwanten plays a young man who, spiralling out of control after a bad breakup, finds himself locked inside a rest stop bathroom with a mysterious figure (J.K. Simmons) speaking from an adjacent stall. As he tries to escape, he realizes he is an unwilling player in a situation bigger than he could have imagined. [Source: Deadline]
Lights Out
Jaime King has joined the cast of the action movie “Lights Out” starring Frank Grillo, Mekhi Phifer and Scott Adkins. Christian Sesma helmed the film.
Set against the seedy underworld of Los Angeles, Garry Charles and Chad Law penned the film which is dubbed a “gritty modern-day ‘Road House’ meets ‘Kickboxer’”. [Source: Variety]
Skeletons In the Closet
Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. will lead the Lance Kawas-directed horror film “Skeletons in the Closet” which begins filming this week in Las Vegas.
The story is about the spirit of La Llorona granting a costly wish to the parents of a child by curing her of cancer. In saving the child, the mother loses her beloved husband while the father spirals down the path of self-destruction after borrowing hard money from a ruthless mobster to pay the hospital bills for his daughter. La Chimera
“The Crown” star Josh O’Connor will lead Italian auteur Alice Rohrwacher’s next film “La Chimera” which is set in the world of archeological looting and is currently shooting in Southern Tuscany.
O’Connor stars as a young British archeologist named Arthur who gets involved in an international network of stolen Etruscan artifacts during the 1980s. Isabella Rossellini also stars as a retired opera singer. [Source: Variety]
