Composed of members Choi Hyun Suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Mashiho, Yoon Jae Hyuk, Asahi, Bang Ye Dam Doyoug, Haruto, Park Jeon Woo and So Jung Hwan, YG Entertainment’s rookie boy group TREASURE redefine their synergy as a group in the latest release “JIKJIN.” The single leads the groups’ first EP THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER ONE which comprises four tracks including the lead single.
Co-composed and written by members Choi Hyun Suk, Yoshi, and Haruto alongside Choice37, FUTURE BOUNCE, HAE, LIL G, Se.A and Sonny, “JIKJIN” is a powerful electronic-trap anthem with fleeting rock influences added to the mix. Opening with punchy guitar riffs, TREASURE keeps the atmosphere spirited and elevated with Junghwan, Junkyu, Doyoung singing: “You’re like a mirage that is almost within my grasp Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh/ I’m going crazy everyday thinking about you/ I’m addicted to your love.” The blend of the soaring bass synth and booming percussion arrangement fashions a hyper-resonant soundscape, complementing the group’s unique vocal performances.
At the lyrical front, the storyline matches the track’s sonic intensity as it elucidates the inexplainable force of attraction between two individuals: “This is addiction/ I just can’t get enough/ I’m divin’ and all into you/ I can’t get out of this attraction.” TREASURE’s instincts stem from a place of urgency and luck, as they reiterate on having a “pedal to the metal” attitude: “Don’t stop, just look forward and rush/Oh, let’s go/Pedal to the metal, hoo.”
Clad in leather ensembles and uber-suave designs, TREASURE performs swift choreographed moves in a high-end music video brimming with luxurious cars. From gripping visuals to crisp transitions and camera work, the music video does justice to the track’s booming soundscape, painting a fast-paced, immersive picture on the screen of the viewers.
