For several years, Chris Pratt’s name has been suggested as a potential replacement for Harrison Ford in the role of Indiana Jones.
However it never seemed like much more than fan-casting until early 2021 when rumors emerged that Lucasfilm was eyeing Pratt should a reboot happen.
The “Jurassic World” actor recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and has shut down the rumor, indicating that he has no plans to take on the role:
“No, aren’t they doing ‘Indiana Jones’ with Harrison Ford? All I know is I once saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don’t even know if it was really him but it was enough to scare me, that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies.’ And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?”
The quote in question was from Ford’s 2019 “Today” interview during which he said: “Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.” Ford is reprising Indiana Jones for the fifth time in a new James Mangold-directed film set to be released June 30th 2023.
Pratt can be seen everywhere right now – “Jurassic World Dominion” is in cinemas and just hit PVOD, “The Terminal List” series is currently screening on Amazon Prime, and Pratt reprises his Star-Lord role in the currently in cinemas “Thor: Love and Thunder”.
