The acclaimed film, stage and TV actor recently shared a clip of an ad for the tea company where he stars as an employee.
In the ad, Yorkshire Tea are holding a leaving party for a member of staff with Stewart then appearing to deliver a Shakespearian leaving speech.
He says: “Ah, Tina. The void so hollow that you shall leave. The emptiness felt within these walls where only the soft weeping of the forgotten river berates.
Shall we not hear again, chanting echoes of your laughter, or the sweet rasp of your stapler. We must, and will, continue. Our love, our dreams, our wishes, ride with you, fair Tina.”
Stewart then switches to a Yorkshire accent to say: “And we’re having a pint at The Dog and Trumpet after work. Apparently, there’s a tab behind the bar.”
In a lengthy career that began in the 1950’s Stewart has become one of the UK’s most treasured actors but is perhaps best known for his roles as Professor X in X-Men and Captain Picard in various Star Trek TV shows and films.
Some of his other notable screen roles include David Lynch’s adaptation of Dune, the TV show Blunt Talk and Excalibur.
Stewart has received the most acclaim for his work on the stage, in particular his interpretations of various Shakespeare characters such as Hamlet, Othello and Macbeth.
Stewart hasn’t performed on stage since 2016 where he appeared in a production of Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land.
