Brad Pitt says he’s on the ‘last leg’ when it comes to his Hollywood career (PA)

Brad Pitt has reflected on his illustrious Hollywood career and declared that his days on film are numbered.

The actor, 58, who is one of his industry’s most recognisable and successful leading men with over three decades in film.

However, the Academy Award winner, who starred in blockbusters such as Ocean’s Eleven, Mr & Mrs Smith and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, said: “I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester.”

He then questioned what his remaining days on film would look like by adding to British GQ: “What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”

In recent times, the father-of-six has starred in fewer films to focus on his role as a film producer.

Later this year, his production company, Plan B Entertainment, will release Women Talking — an adaptation of Miriam Toews’s hit novel about a group of Mennonite women who unite against their rapists.

The actor also gave a rare insight into his off-screen life by revealing he’s on a mission to improve his health, which includes his giving up of smoking during the pandemic.

Speaking about the decision, he said: “I don’t have that ability to do just one or two a day.

“It’s not in my makeup. I’m all in. And I’m going to drive into the ground. I’ve lost my privileges.”

Currently, the star is going through a custody battle over his children with his actor wife Angelina Jolie. After filing for divorce from the 47-year-old Maleficent star in 2016, he chose to get sober and spent a year and a half attending Alcoholics Anonymous.

Also touching on his journey to sobriety, he told GQ: “I had a really cool men’s group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe, because I’d seen things of other people, like Philip Seymour Hoffman, who had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that’s just atrocious to me.”

He also said he believes that turmoil and sadness are an inevitable part of growth. ‘I think all our hearts are broken,’ he said. ‘I always felt very alone in my life, alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family.

‘What’s that line, it was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something about when you can walk with the paradox, when you carry real pain and real joy simultaneously, this is maturity, this is growth.’

It was revealed on Wednesday that Jolie has got back in the director’s chair for her latest film Without Blood.

The actor, who is getting behind the camera for the first time in five years, was pictured in Rome guiding star Salma Hayek on the film set close to the iconic Colosseum.
