A secret proposal. Khloé Kardashian dropped a major bombshell about her relationship with Tristan Thompson — revealing what the public didn’t know about his plans for their future.
During the Thursday, September 29, episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, the Good American cofounder, 38, addressed her confusion about Tristan’s behavior. “We were in the best place. So when we are in the peak of our relationship you go ahead and cheat on me? I don’t even want to know what you do on the worst of our relationship,” Khloé told Kim Kardashian about her now ex-boyfriend, 31. “I am just like, ‘Shame on me,’ almost. I know better and I didn’t do better because I had so much hope and faith.”
The Skims founder, 41, for her part, attempted to find the silver lining amid the drama, adding, “One of the lessons [from this] is you can’t worry about what is humiliating. I mean the fact that he proposed and you never told us and I asked him the night after I thought it happened and he said, ‘I did it months ago. She didn’t tell you guys?’”
For Khloé, the timing of the NBA player’s proposal wasn’t right — which is why she turned down the offer.
“I said I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship because I want to be proud to say I am engaged to anyone. That is why I said, ‘I am not comfortable accepting this because I am not excited to tell my family,’” she recalled. “And as hurtful as it was for him to hear it was the truth. I would never accept something and give someone false hope.”
The former couple started dating in September 2016 and announced that they were expecting a child together one year later. Days before their daughter True’s arrival in 2018, the athlete was accused of cheating on his then-pregnant girlfriend with multiple women.
After initially staying together, Khloé and Tristan called it quits in February 2019 after he kissed Kylie Jenner‘s former best friend Jordyn Woods. Us Weekly confirmed in August 2020 that the pair were giving their romance another chance. Less than one year later, however, they split again. The duo gave things another try in late 2021 before ending it for good.
While filming season 1 of The Kardashians, news broke that the former Sacramento Kings player was being sued by Maralee Nichols for child support. In January, Tristan acknowledged that he is the father to the fitness model’s son, Theo, after previously requesting genetic testing.
Us confirmed in July that the professional basketball player was getting ready for the arrival of baby No. 2 with Khloé. Their son’s birth via surrogate aired on the September 22 premiere.
“Ever since December, it’s been this dark cloud looming over me,” Khloé said in the season 2 premiere about her state of mind. “Every single day, I’ve been feeling depressed and sad, and now that my son is here, I get to move on, and I get to enjoy. It’s almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me. Now I finally get to start the healing process. Now I get to start enjoying my life with two kids in it and figuring this out.”

Hulu shared a message ahead of the new episode, which read, “The reminder of season 2 was filmed six months before the previous episode.”
Khloé also discussed the decision not to address her growing family while filming the second episode.
“I have shot all of season 2 with not talking about this event that is happening in my life simply because I wanted to keep it private and I wasn’t ready to share it,” she told cameras before an offscreen producer noted that they were “going back in time” with the rest of the season.
During the episode, Kim revealed to Khloé that her family was wary about how she was dealing with the paternity scandal.
“I will say that Kendall and Kylie did text me to say that they were a little concerned for you because you are really skinny,” the KKW Beauty founder told Khloé. “And I said, ‘I think she is a bit stressed. She’s fine. You absolutely have a right to be concerned but I am telling you she’s fine.'”
The Strong Looks Better Naked author admitted she preferred “to isolate” herself. “Everyone has problems so why would I bring [mine up]? You just have to deal with it,” Khloé mentioned. “Going through what I went through with Tristan was incredibly hard. The hardest part about it all is training yourself to un-love someone.”
She continued: “This was my life for six years and we weren’t just a couple. We were best friends and he was my workout buddy. We did all these things together and so learning how to undo all these things takes time. Just because someone does you dirty doesn’t mean you fall out of love with them instantly.”
According to Kim, Khloé’s doubts made her compare her dating life to those around her.
“You asked me once, ‘How do you trust Pete [Davidson]?’ And I was like, ‘I just do. It’s a feeling,'” Kim said during a conversation with Khloé, who replied, “What I do know is that all of it sucks and it is humiliating and hurtful. I just don’t have anything left to give.”
(Kim and the comedian split in August after several months of dating.)
“I will never forget Tristan calling me and he was going to propose to her on Valentine’s Day. Which was about a year since they had drama. So this is, like, last Valentine’s Day,” Kim told cameras, seemingly referring to February 2020. “And then I called him the day after and said, ‘I never heard anything from Khloé. Did you propose?.’ And he was like, ‘Oh yeah, I did in December.’ She didn’t tell us.”
The law student joked that she “would have to say yes” if she was in the same position because she would “feel so bad” otherwise.
In the second episode, Khloé took Kendall Jenner up on her offer to do a brain scan to check her anxiety levels. The results, which highlighted Khloé’s “emotional awareness” and “negativity bias,” upset the reality star.
“This says that I am not resilient. That is such a disrespectful thing to say,” Khloé said. “I am the f–king photo of resilience. What are you talking about? This stresses me out.”
After the medical procedure, Khloé discussed how her past affected her mental health.
“My dad died when I was 19. I was married for five years [then] got a divorce and my ex-husband [Lamar Odom] struggled with drugs. He had a lot of trauma and I was exposed to a lot of trauma being in that relationship,” she explained to a psychiatrist. “My last ex-boyfriend, there was a lot of cheating. I was pregnant and then he just had another baby with someone else while we were together. All of these things I find out about on social media so they are pretty traumatic.”
At the time, Khloé noted how “unbelievable” it was that she dealt with so many issues. The TV personality credited her family for supporting her along the way, saying, “We are all doing it together, so we have each other to lean on.”
