Paramount+ will bring the 4K restoration of director Francis Ford Coppola’s classic trilogy to its service on April 28th, the films to be made available the same day as the first three episodes premiere of their new limited series “The Offer” about the making of the 1972 original film. Renfield
Universal Pictures has announced that the Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult-led comedy “Renfield” has officially wrapped principal photography, exactly one year out from its release.
Chris McKay helms the dark comedy in which Hoult plays the eponymous long-suffering acolyte of Dracula (Cage) who steps out into the modern world. Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, James Moses, Shohreh Agdashloo, and Bess Rouss co-star. [Source: Twittr]
Giant
Turner Classic Movies and The Film Foundation have made a multi-year financial commitment for the restoration of classic movies. One of the first results will be revealed this week with a 4K restoration of the iconic 1956 feature “Giant” to play at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood alongside a conversation to be held with Film Foundation board member Steven Spielberg among others. The restoration also will be available on HBO Max and on disc later this year. [Source: THR]
Boss Bitch
Lionsgate has picked up the action-comedy script pitch from writers Kirsten ‘Kiwi’ Smith and Mamrie Hart with stuntwoman/actress Zoe Bell to direct. Rob Tapert, Romel Adam, Rock Shaink and Dash Aiken will produce.
The film is inspired by Bell’s viral short film “Boss Bitch Fight Challenge” in which Bell is home and bored during the pandemic lockdown, and picks a fight with her stunt and acting friends. This ends up involving the likes of Lucy Lawless, Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis, Rosario Dawson, Florence Pugh, Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Halle Berry, Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson. Jordan Peele’s horror film “Nope” has released a new TV spot that ties into the NBA playoffs and sees multi-time MVP winner Steph Curry deal with the same sky-based threat glimpsed in the film’s trailers to date. “Nope” hits theaters worldwide on July 22nd.
