A wrestling match between Maki and Miyo Rokujushi was the sole focus of chapter 196 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Having cast a Simple Domain in chapter 195, Miyo invited Maki to join him in sumo in chapter 196. A unique barrier enabled him to focus exclusively on sumo and nullified all jujutsu techniques.
In agreement with Maki’s invitation, he enclosed them within the Simple Domain and fulfilled the Binding Vow. The strong Maki could not overcome Miyo, who acted as Maki’s mentor and role model.
Having tried to make sense of Daidou’s words, Maki admitted she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do, so Miyo offered to explain through sumo, encouraging her to experience the kind of liberation that comes from being able to sense her opponent’s body.
Here are the latest updates.
1. Chapter 197 Discussion
Our next chapter will focus on the cursed spirit of Naoya and the new Samurai warrior he has become. In the previous chapter, Maki had a Sumo bout to relax and clear her mind.
Maki is getting better, and although Miyo and Daidou are talking things over, Daidou seems to have been successful in his battle against Naoya’s evil spirit.
Daidou’s trap can only be escaped by creating a Domain Expansion for Naoya’s cursed soul. What type of domain Naoya will create is eagerly anticipated by fans.
As a result of Maki’s Domain Expansion, we may assume that he has gained a better understanding of what Daidou was trying to communicate and that he is prepared for the confrontation with Naoya’s cursed spirit by the end of the chapter.

5. Chapter 196 Recap
Chapter 196 of Jujutsu Kaisen is titled “Sakurajima Colony, Part 6,” An image of a sumo wrestler’s ring is cast by Miyo Rokujushi to begin the spell. His following comment was that Maki was too tense, which dulled her combat ability.
Despite Noritoshi’s shock, Maki agrees to Miyo’s repeated inquiries about sumo, demonstrating Miyo’s obsession with it. According to Maki, the sumo wrestling match between her and Miyo is a way to let off some steam since she has been overthinking. It reveals that Miyo is only allowed to use his domain for sumo in chapter 196.
A binding vow with his opponent nullifies all jujutsu abilities within the Simple Domain. Nevertheless, Maki cannot fulfill the Binding Vow without both parties agreeing to fight him, so the conditions can only be met after he decides to fight him. Despite Naoya’s ongoing efforts to flee Daidou, the barrier has completely enclosed Miyo and Maki.
Despite still wondering what Daidou meant, Maki enters the wrestling match. Miyo is initially caught off guard by her aggressive attacks. However, he dodges and tackles her from behind. Mikyo flips Maki over his shoulder and slams her to the ground after flipping her over his shoulder.
After repeatedly declaring his love for sumo, Miyo acknowledges that his understanding of Maki’s strength is limited. The man also admits that if he attacked her directly, he would be overwhelmed by her. In response, he offers to listen to Maki’s worries and asks why she can’t focus.
At Jujutsu High, Maki had never considered any teacher her mentor, not even Satoru Gojo or Atsuya Kusakabe. Although it never occurred to her to rely on others to hone her strengths, her perspective is more a function of her upbringing than her pride.
It is surprising to discover that Maki opens up to Miyo, who tells him that he understands what Daidou means. To explain the situation, he asks her to wrestle him again. As in chapter 196 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the various sumo poses appear similar to sumo-wrestling handbooks.
Throughout their conversation, Miyo tells Maki how she has been getting too sucked into thoughts of sorcerers and curses and herself and people in general.
Despite fighting one’s opponent within the ring, Miyo says the wrestlers develop outside the call in response to Maki’s question of whether sumo isn’t about wrestling. He explains that Maki’s decisions and actions have defined her as a wrestler because they led her into the ring.
The wrestler would be forced to use the moment of impact to understand her opponent’s kind of wrestler to overwhelm him inside the ring. A person’s instincts to be tuned to both nature and opponents can be increased through the sense of smelling light or tasting sound, according to Miyo.
Towards the end of his explanation, he states that victory and defeat vanish when one’s senses run smoothly, leaving freedom as the only thing that remains. Now that Miyo knows what he means, she must experience it herself, she says at the end of the chapter. Due to Maki’s ability to break out of the Simple Domain, Miyo probably does grasp the freedom she mentions.
The chapter does not explicitly mention what dispels the domain, but when Miyo kneels and punches the ground in frustration, it is unclear what dispels the field. It is possible to escape the environment by defeating him in sumo.
It ends with Maki smiling widely when Noritoshi, Naoya, and Daidou turn to her and declare that she is at her best.
