As it did during The Game Awards 2021, It Takes Two has officially won Game of the Year at the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. While Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart took home the most awards for the night, It Takes Two won the ultimate prize at the show from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) that celebrated the best games of 2021.
Alongside winning Game of the Year, It Takes Two also took home the award for Outstanding Achievement in Game Design. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which also led the pack in nominations, won Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Outstanding Technical Achievement, and Family Game of the Year.
There were 23 categories in total, and Halo Infinite, Lone Echo II, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Returnal all won multiple awards. The show also honored NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon, who was the 2022 AIAS Hall of Fame inductee, and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards were held in-person at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas and followed the week-long industry gathering at the 2022 D.I.C.E. Summit. The show was co-hosted for the sixth year by IGN alum Jessica Chobot (Discovery’s ExpeditionX) and Greg Miller (Kinda Funny) and IGN served as the official media partner.
