Netflix Games, the new primarily mobile gaming-focused platform that Netflix created only a short while ago, has announced the next few titles on their way to the platform during August. Highlights include a new game entitled Immortality, from legendary FMV developer Sam Barlow of Her Story and Telling Lies fame, as well as Wild Things: Animal Adventures, the charades-like Heads Up!, and the 3D adventure Rival Pirates.
Let’s talk about Sam Barlow first. Barlow is a legend amongst any full motion video gaming fans, as Her Story especially was something of an indie darling upon releasing a few years ago. Immortality looks to be his biggest project yet, as it is being marketed as a fully playable movie trilogy that seems to have some horror influences and plenty of unsettling and haunting scenes. So, really, typical Barlow fare but cranked up to about one hundred.
Next, we have Wild Things: Animal Adventures, a match-3 adventure game that sees players rescuing some adorable animals while exploring an immersive world. The game is from well-known mobile developer Jam City, which has released games like Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and World War Doh.
We’ll stick Heads Up! and Rival Pirates in the same paragraph here, as they’re smaller releases than the other two. Heads Up! is a game that you’ve probably seen or played before. A prompt will be on the lead player’s phone, they stick it above their head, and other players try to hint them into what it says while they can’t see. Simple stuff. Rival Pirates is basically what it sounds like from the title, a 3D adventure in which you’ll sail the seven seas hunting treasure and sinking other pirate factions’ vessels.
And that’s it for now! All of these wonderful additions come along with the recently added Into The Breach, a legendary strategic puzzler that launched onto Netflix Games only about a week ago, so there’s plenty of value to be found here.
