Eden Mental Health Centre Program Director Karma Sheppard says they’ve seen an uptick in their wellness support line.
“Right now everyone is reacting to stress and anxiety differently,” Sheppard says, encouraging people to call the confidential support line to speak with a local mental health clinician.
“The clinicians are there to offer support and can refer callers to appropriate local resources,” she adds.
Other tips include:
-Talk to someone you trust
-Be realistic with expectations you put on yourself
-Don’t hesitate to ask for help
“Now more than ever as a community we need to embrace each other with kindness and support,” Sheppard says. “If you see a person struggling, offer help. If you don’t know how to help, direct them to someone who does.”
She notes Eden Mental Health offers numerous programs and services for anyone experiencing mental health challenges and crisis including hospital care, counselling, housing, employment services, and spiritual support.
“We take all those different areas and try to support our community with a range of services.”
