The licence applicants would be asked to deposit Rs 5,000 for promoting sports, officials said. Though the guideline was issued on Friday by district administration, officials said that some points have to be revised before issuing the final order.
“The guideline will be floated again once we examine the matter. The draft was released on Friday and it is yet to be approved,” said chief development officer of the district, Anil Kumar Singh.
The move, however, is expected to evoke backlash from the businessmen and traders, who are already suffering losses due to the pandemic. “Instead of binding order, people will be asked to donate on a voluntary basis,” said a senior officer.
