The Bollywood actor-producer believes that one also has to have the talent and capabilities to succeed in the film industry
Debates have been raging over nepotism in Bollywood ever since the death of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, but Bollywood actor-producer Vindu Dara Singh believes that nepotism alone cannot make you successful, one also has to have the talent and capabilities.
“I find this whole debate over nepotism rather silly. I believe, if you don’t have talent, nothing will work for you, be it any industry. Nepotism may help you get a break, but after that, you have to prove yourself. Nepotism does not exist only in the film industry, it’s everywhere, in every field. A recommendation is also a sort of nepotism, isn’t it? When you recommend someone for a job isn’t that nepotism? But after that, it’s your talent that will take you forward,” Vindu said.
“You may be born in a doctor’s or film star’s family, and your parents may want you to be like them and take up their profession, but if you don’t have the capabilities you’ll never be able to do it,” he added.
Vindu has been very closely connected with the film industry right from his childhood, accompanying his father to the studios for movie shoots and other events. “But in my family, I’m the only sibling in the movie industry, the others are not. You know what I mean?” Vindu asked.
Talking about Sushant, he said, “A person is rallying for Sushant and giving speeches everywhere claiming to be a self-made star. Now that person seems to have forgotten who provided him/her with the first break. Isn’t that nepotism of sorts I ask? So why is the person talking about? My son wants to do movies, but he wants to do it on his own, and I’m proud of that. However, even in his case, if he doesn’t have the talent or capability to prove himself nothing will work for him.”
